Documents Required for the Active Duty Military Application
These are required documents for this property. Please review the list as you are preparing to submit your application.
STEP 1: Complete the MHO Application
Contact the Military Housing Office (MHO) to complete a government housing referral. You can request an application online at www.homes.mil/heat/apply. You can also reach the MHO by phone at (360) 257-3331 or email at Whidbey_Housing@us.navy.mil.
Documents required for the MHO application:
- A copy of your orders to NAS Whidbey Island.
- Officers: please provide orders from when you detached from your last command up to your assignment to NAS Whidbey Island.
- Up-to-date NAVPERS 1070/602 (Page 2).
- Detaching Endorsement Letter (Transfer Information Sheet or Application for Transfer and Advances) from last permanent duty station.
- *If not provided, the MHO will use the last day of the month you detach.
- If you are dual military, both members will need to provide their orders and page 2.
- *Additional documents may be required based on your situation.
You will need to complete the following forms, which will be sent to you by the MHO:
- DD1746: Application for Assignment to Housing
- Intra Station Move Entitlement
- Sex Offender Disclosure and Acknowledgment Form
- Release of Information Authorization Form
The MHO will discuss your control date and referral date with you to help you determine your timeline for referral eligibility.
STEP 2: Waitlist Placement
After completing your MHO application, you will receive confirmation from the MHO once you are placed on the waitlist. When your name reaches the top, an MHO representative will contact you via phone and email to confirm readiness for referral to Hunt/HMC. You must respond within 24 hours. If you are ready, Hunt will contact you within 48 hours to start the application process. If not, the MHO will update your date of housing needed and return you to the waitlist.
STEP 3: Gather the Documents Needed & Submit Your HMC Application
After confirming with the MHO that you are ready to be referred to Hunt, you will receive a welcome email from a Hunt Staff member to the email addresses provided on your application. You will then receive a second email containing a link to access the HMC application.
The following documents must be uploaded in the application:
- All applicants must present their most recent end of month Leave Earning Statement (LES) to confirm current rank.
- *If you are dual-military, you must provide a current LES for both members.
- If you are filing the information on behalf of your active-duty spouse, you need a power of attorney (POA).
- Copies of state issued IDs for all members of the household over the age of 18.
- Emergency contact of someone who will not be living in the home.
STEP 4: Home Offer & Move In Requirements
Once Hunt approves your application, a Hunt team member will prepare and send your home offer.The following additional documents are required prior to move in:
- Current vehicle registration for all vehicles to be on the premises.
- Pet Information: Photos of pets, shot records (Dogs: Distemper & Rabies, Cats: Rabies), and microchip ID.
- Proof of Renter's Insurance
Documents Required for the All Other Applicants
These are required documents for this property. Please review the list as you are preparing to submit your application.
STEP 1: Gather the Documents Needed for Your Application
- All applicants must show proof of income through a pay stub showing two months of income equal to at least 2x the market rent (not reduced or promotional rent). If applicable, the monthly rent qualifier for a guarantor is 5x the market rent. Please note that an income qualifier is based on gross monthly income (excluding commissions, tips, child support, or overtime).
- If you are military affiliated, proof of Military/DoD affiliation is required.
- A state-issued ID for every person in the household who is 18 or older.
STEP 2: Complete the HMC Application
After gathering the required documents, complete the HMC application by clicking apply now.
- Download, complete, and sign the screening authorization form for credit and criminal screening. It must be signed by all parties over the age of 18 and submitted in your application.
- Download and review the application rental criteria. Enter your name and email address in the designated fields to access the application portal. You will need to upload this document in your application.
Any individual over the age of 18 who will be residing in the home must submit an application and note on the application with whom they will be residing.
To complete your application, you must submit an application fee of $50 to RentPayment.com.
STEP 3: After Submitting Your Application
After submitting the application, the Hunt team will review it. If any documents are missing, they will contact you. If you are approved, you will receive an email confirming that your Hunt Military Communities application has been approved, along with instructions for the next steps.
STEP 4: Waitlist Placement and Move-In Requirements
Once your application is approved, you will be placed on a waitlist for homes that you qualify for until you are offered a home. You will receive confirmation once you are placed on the waitlist.
The following additional documents are required prior to move in:
